THE WREXHAM & DISTRICT WAR MEMORIAL CLUB
About
The Wrexham & District War Memorial Club was founded on the 23rd of November 1923. Servicemen that served in The Great War (Word War One) banded together and raised funds from street collections to get the club up and running. For many years, the club was open exclusively to armed forces personal and veterans. Today we are open for everyone and are the oldest members club in the Wrexham area, boasting over 300 members.
Not moving away from our military connections, we host four armed forces veterans associations at the club. Furthermore, hosting events for 'Friends of the Forces, Remembrance Day, Armed Forces Day and much more.
Armed Forces Associations
The club currently hosts four armed forces veteran associations.
Royal Naval Association
Meeting Times: The second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 19:30.
About: ‘The Royal Naval Association is open to all former members of the Royal Navy, The Royal Marines, The Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS), The Merchant Navy and other services as associated members.
We also welcome shipmates’ family members to.
We are here to provide comradeship, fun and laughter to all members.’
Royal Welch Fusiliers Association
Meeting Times: The last Tuesday of the month.
About: ‘The aims of the association are to form a bond for all those serving or have served in the regiment; thus promoting the well-being of the regiment as a whole’.
Welsh Guards Association
Meeting Times: The first Thursday of the month.
About:‘The WGA creates a sense of belonging, members enjoy cultivating new friendships as well as increasing health benefits while reducing stress levels by promoting an active lifestyle, stimulating through purposeful activities.’
Royal Artillery Association
Meeting Times: Every second Tuesday of the month (except August) at 19:00.
About: ‘We welcome serving and veteran gunners and their wives / partners as Life Members. Other arms, cap badges, friends and family members interested in supporting the Association are entitled to join as Associate Members.’
